The Abraham Accords
The Abraham Accords are a set of US-brokered agreements, made between August 2020 and January 2021, under which Israel established or began to establish relations with four Arab League states. The United Arab Emirates and Bahrain signed at the White House on 15 September 2020. Morocco signed a joint declaration on 22 December 2020. Sudan signed the Accords declaration on 6 January 2021 but never signed a bilateral agreement with Israel. Israel agreed to suspend its plan to annex parts of the West Bank. The United States offered the UAE 50 F-35 jets, a sale the UAE later suspended. It recognised Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara and removed Sudan from its terrorism list. Israel-UAE trade passed $3 billion in 2024. Saudi Arabia has not joined. It says it needs a path to a Palestinian state first. In 2026 the United States tied a Saudi nuclear deal to Saudi entry into the Accords.
