A History of Resilience Against Terror
This assault fit a long pattern. Since Hamas took control of Gaza in 2007, it has fired countless rockets at Israeli towns and launched attacks. Israel had withdrawn from Gaza in 2005 hoping for peace, but instead faced repeated violence, including wars in 2008–2009, 2012, 2014, and 2021.

Over the following months and years, Israeli forces fought on multiple fronts, including against Hezbollah in the north and other Iranian-backed groups. They dismantled terror infrastructure, eliminated key Hamas leaders, and conducted precise operations. By 2025, major achievements included the return of all hostages — living and deceased — and significant weakening of Hamas.
The Human Stories of Courage and Recovery
The aftermath showed Israel's spirit. Survivors and families shared tales of endurance. One hostage fasted on Yom Kippur in captivity, holding onto his identity. Soldiers injured in battle vowed to return to duty. Communities like Nir Oz, hit hard with many killed or taken, began rebuilding with determination.
Hostage families waited with incredible strength. When the last living hostages came home in October 2025 as part of a ceasefire agreement, it marked a national moment of relief and pride in Israel's persistence.
Security and Hope
Two years on, Israel changed the regional picture. It broke much of the Iranian axis of terror and strengthened deterrence. The economy showed remarkable recovery — the stock market rebounded quickly, and innovation continued.
Rebuilding southern communities continues. Displaced families are returning home. New security measures guard the borders. Israel remains committed to its hostages' memory and to preventing another October 7. The October 2023 attack brought unimaginable pain, but Israel's response proved its strength, unity, and will to survive and thrive.
